Picro-Sirius Red Solution

The Picro-Sirius Red Solution is intended for use in the histological visualization of muscle and collagen fibers in tissue sections. The Picro-Sirius Red stain may be viewed using standard light microscopy or polarized light resulting in birefringence of collagen fibers.

Sirius Red (Direct Red 80) is an azo dye primarily used in staining methods for collagen and amyloid. It has the molecular formula C₄₅H₂₆N₁₀Na₆O₂₁S₆.
