Pro-Par Clearant can be used as a general clearing agent in histology procedures.

In tissue processing, Pro-Par Clearant displaces anhydrous alcohols to allow paraffin infiltration; it also assists in dissolving lipids. Pro-Par Clearant does not have the chemical properties to remove bound water, therefore it cannot overprocess (dry) tissue specimens. In tissue staining, Pro-Par Clearant removes paraffin from tissue sections. Pro-Par Clearant also prepares tissue for coverslipping and is compatible with many commonly used mounting media.
