[XL-Cal® (Immuno) Bone Decalcifier
SKU: XLH
Xl-Cal ® Immuno is a rapid decalcifier designed to preserve immunogenicity at a maximum white accomplishing rapid decalcification. It is designed specifically for bone marrow biopsies and small diagnostic portions of bone, although it can also be used effectively on large fragments of bone.
• 1. Small biopsies, such as bone marrow, should be fixed in B-5 Sub™ for at least 3 hours prior to processing. When using 10% NBF, fix for 8-12 hours. Over fixation is not a problem; however, tissues should generally not be fixed longer than 1-2 weeks.
• 2. Place bone core biopsies in XL-Cal ® Immuno: 11-gauge biopsy for 1 hour; 8-gauge biopsy for 90-120 minutes, 2-3mm slices of bone for 3-4 hours.
• 3. Wash decalcified bone cores or tissue blocks for 10 minutes in running tap water.
• 4. Place the washed tissues on tissue processor for routine processing and infiltration with paraffin
